Our educational mission
- Ensuring the sharing of scientific knowledge by organizing advanced courses, congresses, conferences, symposiums, and seminars for participant groups interested in aging studies, who are academics, have undergraduate and graduate degrees, or are currently continuing their education in these units, within the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Center for Aging Studies (MAKÜ YASAM), which set out with the motto “From universal knowledge to social contribution,” creating awareness about aging studies in Turkey and the world,
- Conducting local, national, and international scientific publications within MAKÜ YASAM, whose target audience includes those working on academic platforms, professionals providing services on aging and aging issues, students, the public, and industry,
- Collaborating with national and international scientific institutions, public institutions, private and official organizations, and associations,
- Providing consultancy services on the subjects they need to student groups at all levels regarding academic studies and activities, as well as to elderly individuals who want to receive services on different topics,
- Following national and international events related to aging studies, planning and organizing events as a stakeholder or participant,
- Contributing to the knowledge accumulation of individuals who are of superior quality, use advanced technology, respect ethical values, know the importance of multidisciplinary work in the modern world, and are productive.
Our research mission
- Conducting basic scientific research on the aging process and the problems in this process, as well as research aimed at identifying the needs of the elderly at the local level and offering solutions,
- Conducting research aimed at raising awareness of the society on "Healthy Aging,"
- Conducting research on the adaptation of the elderly to new technologies and gerontechnology, determining the applicability of modern technologies, conducting research on how these technologies can be used to solve the multifaceted problems of the elderly, and planning pilot application studies with trial and monitoring programs in small groups,
- Conducting research and development activities to evaluate, interpret, and adapt to society the results of research activities carried out within MAKÜ YASAM from an academic perspective.
